Designer -> Senior Designer

2012 - 2022

For ten years I designed digital products for large financial institutions who serve millions of users. Markit Digital in Boulder, Colorado (now part of S&P Global) has a 40+ person team of world-class designers. While there, I designed for many fintech projects and also took on leadership initiatives such as co-hosting an in-company talk show, and hosting our design team awards ceremony. The companies we worked for are leaders in the international financial space such as as JP Morgan Chase, Wells Fargo, TD, Santander, Merrill, Bank of Montreal and many others.

A few companies I helped with while at Markit

Santander Private Wealth

Santander Private Wealth approached us to completely redesign their plaform for ultra-high-net-worth clients. From 2018 to 2022, I was on this project from the kickoff as one of several designers. Over time, I took on more ownership of the project and was promoted to Senior Designer. I also worked with Santander's marketing team to create the promotional video (below) in addition to a dynamic data video project which was launched to their VIP users. This also entailed working closely with an international engineering team, Globant, and the Santander representatives in Spain. In 2020 and subsequent years, Santander was awarded "Best Private Bank in Latin America for use of technology" by Euromoney. I was proud to be a part of this project.

I also oversaw a project for Wells Fargo for their eBrokerage Markets. In this capacity we worked with WF's design team and product leadership to enhance the markets experience on their mobile platform.

JP Morgan Chase - Mobile Banking Enhancements

JP Morgan Chase asked us to envision innovative solutions and work with their in-house designers to create new digital products and customer experiences. I worked with a fellow Senior Designer to come of up with some new ideas for their retail investing experience. We split up the work— The other designer handled desktop and I took on the mobile experience. This was a great project to work on and the client loved our ideas.

Merrill Edge - Mobile Screener

I worked on creating a new mobile screener for Merrill Edge with a fellow designer. Investment screeners are complex and our client wanted us to explore how we could make a simpler to use verion for moblie. In the end, we created an experience that was simple to use and also allowed power-users to dive as deep as they wanted. We split up the work by platform— she took Android and I took iOS. The client was very happy with the results.

Midnight Trader - Article Editor (CMS)

The Midnight Trader Article Editor is a tool that allows the editorial team to create and edit articles for the Midnight Trader platform. I think I was the only designer on this project. It was well received by the client

Creative Brief Creator

My collegue and I won first place in the "Mashups" category for this project at a company-wide hackathon. The Creative Brief Creator is a tool that speeds up the laborious process of creating a creative brief. It would save the design team hundreds hours of time each year.

Additionally, in order to better raise cross-departmental awareness and to boost morale overall, I co-hosted a monthly talk show with another designer. Each time, our audience area would be packed with members from all over the company. A delightful time was had by all.

As someone eager to utilize new technologies and new methods of doing things, I frequently gave presentations as well lead teaching initiatives.

In addition to product design I also created dynamic data videos as well as motion graphics and other video work.

All in all, it was a great time, I learned a ton, empowered our clients, and made many friends. I am grateful for the opportunity to have worked with such a talented group of people.
